Born to Skate

Today I bought Annabelle a new pair of "my first skates" at Wal-Mart. She was TOTALLY excited about them & couldn't wait to give her skating skills a whirl. She's actually very good at balancing on them (even though I have one set of wheels locked on them now so she can get used to them). She's been "skating" all over the house all day long and did not want to take the skates off. She told me she was "born to skate" and she's "very, very good at skating"...haha!

Another funny: Annabelle woke up from a nap the other day & I asked her if she had a good nap and she said "YES, I dreamed of Play-Doh"...I guess Play-Doh is an awesome dream when you're 3???

Happy Birthday to ME!

Justin bought me these awesome new pans & a deep fryer for my birthday! It's really amazing how things seem to wear out after about ten years, most of my "kitchen stuff" is about ten years old, it was mostly wedding gifts or items we bought when we were first married. I almost think there should be some sort of "anniversary" at ten years where you get all new kitchen stuff :)

I've been enjoying the fryer already (Justin bought it for me on Thurs.) we've fried onion rings, french fries, flour tortillas & tonight we will fry chicken, should be a real adventure. I know everyone has such a bad opinion of frying things but I think it's probably healthier if you fry it at home rather than getting fast food!

Annabelle & Justin bought me flowers & a delicious looking german chocolate cake (my all time favorite) this morning. I'm thankful I get to spend another birthday with my sweet little girl & fabulous husband. Although it is hard to believe that I am already 37 years old!

Mulched the Flower Beds

Really nice weather today, 77 degrees & sunny. Justin, Annabelle & I decided to mulch the flower beds. They look really nice now!

Thank You Aunt Lisa!!

Aunt Lisa sent us a package for Easter yesterday since she is in India for a couple weeks. Inside the package was this cool kit to make a princess castle. Annabelle was so excited about making the castle so we had to make it today. It was a little challenging but we mastered it & Annabelle decided the castle makes a perfect new place for her little people to live. Thanks Aunt Lisa!

Weekend Update

Well, the new backyard is finally complete. The landscaper finished installation late on Thursday. Unfortunately he overestimated the amount of sod needed for the yard so we were left with a whole pallet of grass in our driveway, fortunately we needed some more grass for the front yard so Justin, Annabelle & I spent Friday afternoon laying some sod in our front yard. We used half the pallet & luckily one of our neighbors bought the other half pallet for their yard, now if they would just come get it off our driveway before it dies! So, now we've become slaves to watering, we have to keep at least an inch of water on the sod in the morning which takes some time & planning. If all goes well, the sod should be rooted in 3 weeks and we won't have to water quite as much. It looks really good & we are very pleased with how much nicer our backyard looks.

Today we stopped by Home Depot to pick up a new sprinkler & some more landscaping supplies, we spotted a really pretty King Palm & we're now thinking about taking out one of our palms that didn't quite make it through the last cold snap & replacing it with a pretty King Palm. Annabelle fell in love with some little purple flowers, we bought them & are planning on planting them in one of the flower beds. I also planted some liriope and I potted some hydrangeas I ordered online, can't wait until they get big enough to put out in the yard. It's really amazing how many different tropical plants are available in this planting zone of the U.S. Annabelle just loves smelling all those flowers in the garden centers!

One funny thing Annabelle said this week...I was switching the channels on the tv one day & we flipped past the TLC channel where they were holding up a bloody newborn baby - Annabelle said "Momma, why does that baby have hot sauce all over it?"...I just answered "I don't know"...I'm definitely not ready for the where do babies come from talk yet...haha!

Muno

I made this cute Muno pillow for Annabelle today. Now she wants me to make the rest of the Yo Gabba Gabba clan - not sure if I'm up to it!

The landscape crew cleared the yard today & tilled it. Grass should be delivered by Thursday morning! Can't wait for the new yard. Hoping for nice grass growing weather & plenty of rain...
