Library Halloween Party

Yesterday we went to the Halloween story time & party at the Library. Annabelle had a great time. After the party we went to the park with some of Annabelle's friends.

Butterflies & Bad Luck

The butterflies are migrating & the sky has been just full of them lately. Every color, size & variety of butterfly you can think of has flew past our house in the past couple days. It's really amazing watching them, when the wind blows a little bit more fly by. Our palm trees are blooming brilliant yellow blooms & the weather has been just fantastic. I can definitely see why people spend their winters here...

So here's the bad luck...Annabelle was sick Friday & Saturday, she's still getting over a nasty cough. Luckily it hasn't gotten any worse so we've avoided any doctors visits. Annabelle passed the sickness on to me so I've been feeling a little crummy lately but it seems like this is a "quick" sickness & only lasts a few days. Justin has been having problems with the new tires we purchased for his car, the tire shop can't seem to get them balanced, one tire wasn't totally round & they replaced it, we've had the car to the dealer etc. etc. and it is a chronic problem that is driving us all crazy. Plus, we realized last week that the tags on his car (Oklahoma tags) are expired so now we will have to have it inspected & tagged here asap...so we had plans to take Justin's car in to the dealer, once again, tomorrow & then on to inspection. Justin got up this morning to mow (yes, we mow year 'round here)...he pulled my car out of the garage and when he was ready to put my car back in the garage it refused to start. So, now we are down to our last vehicle, our little Ford truck, Justin installed the carseat today, it's a tight fit with all three of us in the cab, but we have to laugh about it, hopefully this week we'll be able to get our cars back. You never know how much you miss them until they don't work! I'm thinking about purchasing a bicycle with a child's trailer. Seriously.

More of Aunt Lisa's Visit

We painted pumpkins, baked & decorated cookies & had a good time! The weather has been really, really nice down here in South Texas so we were able to spend some time outside too! Annabelle was so sad when Aunt Lisa left, she cried. Thanks for coming to visit us Lisa, we can't wait to do it again!!

Sand = One Happy Little Girl

Our poor turtle sandbox has sat empty since we moved down to Texas until today! Justin decided to get Annabelle some playsand after watching her dig in a tiny dirt spot in our yard for the past couple weeks. Sand + Toys + Outside = One Happy Little Girl! We can't wait to get sod for our backyard so we can put in a swingset (Swingset + Swinging Outside = One REALLY Happy Little Girl).

I HATE Fire Ants!

Stung AGAIN today by a fire ant. I was innocently standing by the fire ant mound as Justin poured pot after pot of boiling water on the mound & suddenly an angry ant climbed into my sandal and got me. I know why they call them fire ants, they really do have a powerful bite. Please excuse the disgusting foot photo but just wanted to show you all proof of my battles with the fire ants.

So far we've tried fire ant pellets, all types of bug & insect sprays, digging up the mound, laquer thinner etc. etc. Those suckers are invincible!

Toto's Baby

Today we found one of Toto's babies in the backyard. Tiny little guy, no bigger than a dime! We only captured him for a while. Such a cute little guy!

Spent some time at the park today. Weather here is VERY nice, it has been in the 70's. Annabelle LOVED the SWINGS!

A Giant in the Playhouse

The other day Annabelle came into the kitchen (I was making dinner) and told me "Mommy, Dada is asleep in my room"..."I kicked him and he won't wake up"...I went into Annabelle's room and found Dada sleeping on the floor in the middle of the little people house & the little people (of course I had to get a picture of this)...poor Dada, he has been so tired lately...

It's October!

It's October!
Time to get ready for Halloween!
Wow, it really doesn't FEEL like October since the weather has still been in the 90's here. We decided we should put out our "BOO" sign now and start decorating for Halloween.

Today we went to story time and made this cool bat out of Annabelle's handprints. Black paint was involved so it was kind of scary with all those books and stuff around at the library & of course, Annabelle was wearing a WHITE shirt. But we made it out of there with no paint on us! Yaaay!
